Another marathon day of baking, but I do so love to cook and bake for my family and friends. And who doesn’t love the Five Seed Almond Bars from Trader Joe’s?
Growing up in California we shopped quite a bit at Trader Joe’s but after moving to Nashville, Tennessee back in the 80’s, I found myself without this source. Lucky for me they finally built a store but then I moved to Asheville, North Carolina a couple of years ago and, once again, I find myself without a local store. The closest Trader Joe’s to me is in Greenville, South Carolina which is about an hour and a half drive, but being the Trader Joe’s lover that I am, I have made the road trip several times.
Now, back to these Five Seed Almond Bars. It’s amazing the information you can find on the internet so a quick search turned up this recipe for a good imitation of Trader Joe’s Five Seed Almond Bars. I decided to give it a try and I must say that I’m very pleased with the results. They turned out moist, nutty with just a hint of cloves. The next time I make these I would add a touch more cloves, but that is the only change I would make.

My food processor is one of the smaller ones so I just used my big mixing bowl instead and it worked out great. But chop up the raisins first before adding to the mixing bowl.
Don’t worry, Trader Joe’s, just because this recipe turned out good it still won’t stop me from my road trips … and everyone knows how much I love a road trip.
Give these a try when you want a tasty treat for your family or friends.
See ya on the road or back in the kitchen. ~Barbara
